Cres - Old Town

Cres' old town is the historic center, fortified in the 16th Century. Three of the original town gates, Gradska Vrata (Town Gate) Mala Vrata (Little Gate) Vrata St Mikule (St Michel's Gate), still remain in tact, as well as a tower. The main square in the old town is Trg F Petrica with the loggia dating to the 16th Century. A morning market is held here daily. Also in the old town of Cres is the Church of St Mary of the Snow which is not available for viewing other than during mass.

Outside of the old town, the 14th Century Gothic Renaissance Franciscan Monastery (Francevaski Samostan) is also worth noting. It contains a small museum with religious paintings.
