Cottbus - Altmarkt

Situated at the intersection of old long-distance trade routes, the Altmarkt in Cottbus was ideally situated for the business of the town's merchants. After a great fire in 1671 it was surrounded by new buildings in Saxon Baroque style. The whole square is now protected as a national monument.
