Uvita Attractions
This tiny village is a loose string of farms and houses without a real center. A few accommodations are available, and most visitors stay in Uvita because of its close proximity to natural attractions. Two beaches in the area, Uvita Beach and Uvita Bay Beach, are popular for swimming.
La Merced Ranch
La Merced Ranch is a working cattle ranch where over half of the grounds have been left as protected forest. Several tours are offered, either by horseback or on foot, to observe wildlife in various habitats. A popular tour available at the ranch is "Cowboy for a Day", where participants ride with local cowboys and work the ranch.
Oro Verde Biological Reserve
Situated on the Duarte family farm, the Oro Verde Biological Station is on 150ha/370.5ac of land that is mostly rainforest. Tours are available to visit waterfalls, see the rainforest and observe wildlife. Horseback riding is also a popular activity at Oro Verde.
