Orosi is one of the few colonial towns that has survived the frequent earthquakes in Costa Rica. At the time of the Spanish conquest, a Huetar Indian chief lived in the area and the town is named for him. Orosi and the surrounding districts have a population of about 8,000 people and coffee is the main product grown in the area.
Built in the first half of the 18th C, this church has survived many earthquakes. The original atmosphere is preserved and the church features altars and shrines meticulously carved from wood. Adjacent is a small museum including religious art and relics outlining religious colonial history.
The huge coffee farm and exporter Beneficiadora Renex offers several tours of the establishment. Visitors can walk through the processing plant and enjoy a coffee-tasting, or take a longer tour through the coffee fields.

The lukewarm thermal pool found here is reputed to be of medicinal value. Apart from a picnic area, the recreational complex also features a basketball court and soccer fields. Families frequent the complex.
