Córdoba - Plaza de las Tendillas and Vicinity
In the center of Córdoba is the Plaza de las Tendillas, with an equestrian statue of the "Gran Capitán", Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba (1453-1515), a native of the town who conquered the kingdom of Naples for the Crown of Aragon.

Avenida del Gran Capitán
From the Plaza de las Tendillas Calle Conde de Gondómar runs west into the Avenida del Gran Capitán, lined with theaters, restaurants, hotels and cafes, which is a popular promenade, particularly on summer evenings.
Gran Teatro
The Gran Teatro is home to the Orchestra of Córdoba. it also features opera, classical concerts, ballet and other performances.

San Hipólito
North from San Nicolás in Córdoba is the collegiate church of San Hipólito, built by Alfonso XI in 1340 and rebuilt in 1729. Flanking the high altar are the modern tombs of Ferdinand IV and Alfonso XI, who were originally buried in the Cathedral's Capilla Real.

Opposite the end of Avenida del Gran Capitán in Córdoba stands the fortress-like 15th century church of San Nicolás, with an elegant octagonal tower, which has a valuable treasury.
