Waterford is a small community outside of New London. The two municipalities were a single township until 1801 when Waterford officially separated. The two towns share a similar history and heritage.
Harkness Memorial State Park is the site of the 42 room Italianate Harkness Mansion, built in 1906. The 230 acre park has beautiful formal gardens, picnic areas, and fishing opportunities.

Historic Jordan Green is a complex of 18th and 19th C buildings which have been reconstructed or relocated to the location. There is a barn, schoolhouse, blacksmith shop and an 1838 home furnished in Colonial and Victorian style. The 1740 Jordan Schoolhouse is the oldest surviving public building in Waterford and was moved to Jordan Green in 1972.
