Fairfield (pop. 53,500) is set along the coast of Long Island Sound, with more than eight miles of shoreline. There are public beaches, a marina, boat basins, as well as opportunities for fishing, golfing, camping, hiking, swimming, boating, picnicking, skating and cross-country skiing.
The Fairfield Historical Society Museum contains a collection of clothing and textiles, fine arts, household furnishings, silver, brass, pewter, ceramics and glass, clocks, toys, dolls, woodworking tools, agricultural implements, and nautical instruments. Many of the items pertain to the history of the local area.

Ogden House is a saltbox-style house that was completed in 1750. The Ogden family called this house their home for 125 years. The interior is furnished with textiles and fine furniture based on information from family documents. The herb garden features plants that were typical of that time period.
