The Mitchell Art Museum is housed in a 1900s western style building that began as a department store. More than 250 original paintings by artist and illustrator Arthur Roy Mitchell are featured along with Hispanic folk art and artifacts, Western memorabilia, and American Indian artifacts.

Housed in Old Fire House No. 1, built in 1889, the Trinidad Children's Museum offers families a chance to visit an early 1900's classroom, climb aboard the vintage fire truck, blow the whistle of the model train, and explore original Trinidad jail cells.
Trinidad Lake State Park has year-round boating, hiking, fishing and camping on a 900-acre lake west of Trinidad. An ancient tee-pee ring can be found in the center of the campground.
