Moffat County is in the far northwest corner of Colorado, and includes the town of Craig, as well as Dinosaur National Monument. Much of the rest of the county is administered by the Bureau of Land Management.

Dinosaur National Monument
SeasonThe area is open throughout the year. The best time for a visit is between May and October.Situation and topographyDinosaur National Monument, famed for its fossils, lies in Northwestern Colorado, with a tip reaching into Utah. It occupies part of the Yampa plateau, which is cut by the spectacular canyons on the Yampa River and Green River. This extraordinary natural landscape has been created by movements in the earth's crust and the erosive forces of water and wind.FossilsThe area round the Yampa and Green Rivers became world-famous when the fossilized remains of saurians (dinosaurs), crocodiles and tortoises were found there. In the Jurassic period giant creatures, including Allosaurus, Apatosaurus, Brontosaurus and Stegosaurus, roamed over this part of America.
Headquarters Visitor Center
The Headquarters Visitor Center is located on the Colorado side of Dinosaur National Monument. There are exhibits on the history of the park, and an orientation slide show.
Craig, Colorado
Craig is the seat and largest town in Moffat County, with an abundance of winter and summer recreational opportunities. Elk, deer, antelope, mountain lions, sand hill cranes, eagles, wild horses and other wildlife are often seen in scenic Craig backcountry.
Moffat County Fairgrounds
The Moffat County Fairgrounds are located just east of Craig, with many events throughout the year, including rodeos, horse shows and racing. The Moffat County Fair occurs each year during the first week in August.
Museum of Northwest Colorado
The Museum of Northwest Colorado in Craig is located in the former Colorado State Armory. Exhibits include pioneer, mining and farming artifacts, as well as railroad and paleontology displays.
Wyman Living History Museum
The Wyman Museum opened in 2006 and features a unique collection from the West, a complete Colorado license plate collection, chain saws, and black smith demonstrations throughout the summer. Clyde, the resident elk, came from Lou Wyman's Ranch.
Craig City Park
Craig City Park features the Marcia Car, which was the personal car of railroad magnate David Moffat. The park also has tennis courts, a playground and wave pool.
Browns Park National Wildlife Refuge
Browns Park National Wildlife Refuge was created in 1963 to provide a sanctuary for Canada geese, ducks and other migratory birds. Located in the far northwest of Colorado, Browns Park is on the Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam.
Wyman Elk Ranch (closed)
ATTRACTION IS CLOSED.The Wyman Elk Ranch in Craig is a 10,000 acre ranch located in a valley on the Williams Fork River. The ranch is home to 55 elk.
