7mi/12km northwest of Colorado Springs is Manitou Springs (mineral springs), a spa which has seen better days. The name comes from Indian word manitou, a great god or spirit.
The Cave of the Winds is a stalactitic cave to the northwest of the town.
There are three tours to choose from: the Discovery Tour, passing through well-lighted rooms over a half mile; the Lantern Tour, where visitors carry their own light; and the extended Explorers Tour, which takes 3 to 4 hours. There are laser light shows nightly in Williams Canyon.

Miramont Castle was built by Jean Baptiste Francolon. Completed in 1895 the mansion consisted of 46 rooms and had 9 distinct architectural styles. Father Francolon and his mother Marie moved into the castle.
Today visitors may tour the gardens, the mansion or enjoy a relaxing visit to the Queen's Parlor Tearoom.
