Lakewood is the fourth-largest city in Colorado, located west of Denver in Jefferson County, at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Many recreational opportunities are available including hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and paragliding.
Covering 2,500 acres, Bear Creek Lake Park is the largest park in Lakewood, with paved trails and 15 miles of soft surface trails. The park is home to a variety of wildlife such as snakes, birds, coyotes, prairie dogs, birds of prey, and deer.
Lakewood's Heritage Center is located on an old estate in Belmar Park, with 10 historic structures and an outdoor amphitheater. Over 30,000 artifacts have been preserved to present the history of the town.
