Lafayette Attractions
Lafayette and Mary Miller settled in the area in 1864. After Lafayette dies, Mary Miller platted a 150-acre town site in 1888 and named it after her late husband. Lafayette relies on agriculture and offers a variety of cultural and recreational opportunities.
The Miner's Museum in Lafayette is located on East Simpson Street in the Lewis Home. The home was built in the 1890's and was occupied by miners until the mine closed and the house was moved into the town. Vintage clothing and accessories as well as the history of the mining industry in the town are highlighted.

World of Wonder is a children's museum that provides interactive exhibits, and informative and educational programs. Exhibits highlight art, music, dinosaurs, reading area, a pirate ship and sand castle.
