Gilpin County

In a deep V-shaped valley northwest of Golden, still frequented by numerous hopeful gold-prospectors, is the old Western settlement of Black Hawk, nostalgically refurbished, with various attractions to tempt the tourist.

Black Hawk has a population of only 200 people.

Golden Gate Canyon State Park is located west of Denver in Gilpin County. The park has 168 campsites and miles of trails, which are ideal for hiking, biking and horseback riding. The park has 14,000 acres of forest, mountains and meadows, which attracts sightseers and photographers.
