12mi/20km north of Colorado Springs, at the foot of the Front Range, is the U.S. Air Force Academy, where over 4,000 Air Force cadets are trained. The "Moon Meal Parade" is held daily at noon, and there is also a large parade on Saturdays at 11 a.m. The dominant architectural feature of the establishment is the Chapel, with pointed gables resembling rockets, which serves Protestants, Catholics and Jews alike. Near the Academy is the North American Aerospace Command (NORAD).
