Pioneer Town is located two blocks south of downtown Cedaredge. This village features an old time Main Street with reconstructed period buildings complete with historic artifacts. Pioneer Town is also the home of the Chapel of the Cross and the Doll and Toy House, housing a portion of the museum's large collection of dolls and toys from the past.
Its founder, Samuel Wade named Paonia, for the peony roots, which he brought with him in 1881 when he arrived in his covered wagon. This mountain town is home to one of the few bronze foundries in America.
Powderhorn Ski Area is near the town of Delta offering alpine and cross-country trails, as well as ice skating, sleigh rides and snowmobile tours. Horseback riding and mountain biking are popular in the summer.
