Coloma - Marshall Gold Discovery State Park
Today, the whole area in which Marshall, a partner of John A. Sutter, worked has been incorporated into the Marshall Gold Discovery State Park. On a hill stands a statue of Marshall, pointing a finger at the spot where the gold was found.
On instructions from Sutter a saw-mill was built there (about 50mi/80km from Fort Sutter in Sacramento), a reproduction of which stands in State Park. Some of the older houses have been preserved, and a museum in the State Park Building displays artifacts of the great gold rush.
