Description
The 300km / 190mi stretch of railway between Cochrane and Moosonee was built in 1932 and for a long time thereafter remained the only link with the region at the mouth of the Moose River. A one-day excursion from Cochrane involves a five and a half hour journey on the legendary Polar Bear Express through the untamed wilderness. Anyone with more time to spend and who wants to get a genuine feel of the hunting and trapping atmosphere should take the slower train which stops at all stations on the way.
