In the center of Kleve, on higher ground, stands the old castle of the Dukes of Kleve (15th-17th C.), the "Schwanburg" of the Lohengrin legend. The tower now houses a geological museum and an art gallery. The rest of the building is occupied by local government offices and is not open to the public.
