Zhaoqing Attractions

Zhaoqing is situated on the Xijiang river, in the center of Guangdong province.

Zhaoqing is over 2000 years old, and in 1118 was made the capital of an important administrative district. In 1646 the leader of a peasants' uprising used it as his headquarters.

Seven Star Rocks
The Seven Star Rocks rise up out of Star Lake on the northern edge of the town. The shape of these seven hills, rich in impressive caves, temples and pavilions, resembles the Great Bear (Ursa Major) constellation.

At the entrance gate there is an inscription by the revolutionary Zhe De. In Stone Chamber Rock (Shishi) lies a cave containing 270 carved stones.
Temple of the White Clouds
Some 5km/3mi southwest of the Qingyun Si Temple will be found the Temple of the White Clouds, dating from the Tang era (618-907).
