Ferreñafe - Sicán National Museum
(Local Name: Museo Nacional Sicán) The small town of Ferreñafe, about 20km / 12mi northeast from Chiclayo, is home to the Museo Nacional Sicán. This modern museum contains the treasures recovered from the tomb of the Señor de Sicán at Batán Grande.
On the second floor of the Museo Nacional Sicán is the impressive Sala de Oro, containing the gold pieces found at the tomb. The museum also displays replicas of this tomb, as well as that of a second tomb discovered at the site. Interestingly, both the Señor de Sicán and the Señor of the second tomb were found beheaded and buried upside down.
There is also an audio visual presentation and information on how some of the metal work was created.
