Completed in 1983 on the design of the architecture firm, Kohn Pedersen Fox, the green-glass, 36-story building is the headquarters of John Nuveen and Company. One facade is curved to follow the contours of the waterfront and the other is flat.

Citicorp Center
Architect Helmut Jahn incorporated a series of glass fronted semi arches so that Citicorp Center looks much like a 1930s streamlined jukebox, with a 1980s bluish glass and silver metal exterior. The complex was formerly called the Northwestern Atrium Center, partly because of its significant atrium. These offices and retail arcades sit above a commuter rail station which generates ongoing pedestrian traffic.
Civic Opera Building
Fronting Wacker but also facing the South Chicago River with a wall of windows, this opera house was built in 1929 to house the Lyric Opera of Chicago. The building incorporates offices in its Art Deco skyscraper. The architects were Graham, Anderson, Probst & White.

The Lyric Opera of Chicago features an eight opera season to over 30,000 subscribers. It began in 1954 and is world-renowned.
