Chicago - Harold Washington Library Center

Named in honor of the city's first African-American mayor, Harold Washington Library Center is a modern building and the home of the Chicago public library. It was designed by Hammond, Beeby and Babka in 1991 combining post-modern and classical styles. The library's collection consists of more than two million books including a large Civil War and American History section.
