Chemtou - Quarries

In the quarries at Chemtou rock faces up to 20m/65ft high show the marks of Roman quarrying. Numbers of blocks left in the quarries bear inscriptions with the name of an Emperor, a consul or a quarry official and an indication of the section of the quarry from which they came.
