Fort At Number 4 Living History Museum Description
The Fort At Number 4 is a re-created fortified village in the most northerly British settlement at the time. It illustrates the history of the area and life in the mid 1700's. The fort, which was actually more of a gated village, was built by the British for protection against the French when tension between the two was rising. Attacks by Indians eventually drove most area settlers into living within the fort.

More attacks by the French and the Indians failed and this fort was held largely responsible for the success of the British victory and the surrender of Canada to the English.
