Drayton Hall Description
Equally beautiful is Drayton Hall (9 mi. north-west of Charleston), one of the oldest plantations in the south to survive the Civil War unscathed. The fine Georgian mansion built in 1738 by the Draytons, who came here in 1679 and owned the estate for seven generations, can thus be seen in its original condition.
