Chantilly - Petit Château (Galerie des Livres)

The 16th century Petit Château in Chantilly is also open to the public. The most notable features are the sumptuously appointed rooms, the chapel with its magnificent high altar and above all the valuable library in the Galerie des Livres (Book Gallery), with almost 13,000 rare books and 1,500 manuscripts. Its principal treasure is the Duc de Berry's prayer book, "Les Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry", with illuminations by the Limburg brothers (early 15th C).
