Chainat - Wat Boromathat

Above the Chainat dam stands Wat Boromathat, its chedi dating from the U Thong period (12th-15th c.) but showing unmistakable signs of Srivijaya influence. Note the seated Buddha figures in the four niches.

The museum next to the wat has an interesting collection of Buddhas, all of them found in this particular area by a local monk. The figures illustrate a variety and sometimes mixture of styles. One stone tablet is decorated with a seated Buddha and the "Wheel of the Law" (Dvaravati style, 9th/10th c.).
