Ceres - Gydo Pass
A drive over the Gydo Pass (1,018m/3,340ft) - named after a species of euphorbia which covers the slopes of the Skurweberg - opens up magnificent views. The road runs north from Ceres and comes in 10km/6mi to the Prince Alfred Hamlet, which depends for most of its income on fruit-growing. 3km/2mi beyond it the ascent to the pass begins, and the summit is reached in another 7km/4.5mi.
