Parque das Aguas
In the beautiful Parque das Aguas ("Park of the Waters") in the town center, laid out in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, are eleven Oriental-style pavilions housing mineral springs (containing magnesium, sulphur, iron, alkalis and carbonic acid) used for medical purposes, a lavishly appointed Turkish bath and several saunas and massage institutes. The carefully tended grounds, with flowerbeds and groves of pine-trees, offer pleasant walking. There are also a swimming pool and other sports facilities.
