Canela - Parque Caracol

9km/5.6mi from the town on the road to Gramado is the Parque Caracol, with a waterfall which plunges down from a height of 131m/430ft, tropical and subtropical forests and the Rio Caracol, which forms a series of waterfalls and small beaches. On the road to the park, 3km/2mi from Canela, is a 700 year old araucaria (parana pine) which stands 42m/140ft high.
