Teslin Lake Attractions

For some miles between Watson Lake and Whitehorse the Alaska Highway hugs Teslin Lake which, although 125 km (78 mi.) long, is only some 3 km (2 mi.) wide on average. From the road there are magnificient views to be had of this uniquely-shaped lake and also of the heights of the Yukon Plateau. In the George Johnston Museum in Teslin can be seen exhibits illustrating the period of the gold-diggers and the way of life and culture of the native Indians.
Atlin, Canada
(Near Teslin Lake)
From Jakes Corner it is worthwhile branching off southward for some 100 km (60 mi.) to Atlin. This little township, a settlement dating from the time of the gold-rush, is charmingly situated on the shore of Lake Atlin. Between Jakes Corner and Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon Territory, the highway stays parallel for some 15 km (91/2 mi.) to Marsh Lake, with its shimmering turquoise waters framed by mountains beyond. Because of its proximity to Whitehorse larger crowds must be expected here than at other lakeside areas.
