Southwestern Ontario Attractions

Southwestern Ontario spans the flat farming country from London to Windsor. Some of its most notable natural features on Lake Erie are three projections with significant bird life which are Point Pelee National Park, Long Point wildlife area and Rondeau Provincial Park.
Aylmer - Aylmer & District Museum, Canada
The Aylmer & District Museum features a general store from the late 19th C / early 20th C, a Victorian parlour, native artifacts, and a Glass gallery with pressed, art, cut and depression glass. The museum also offers changing exhibits and often seasonal themes so be sure to check the schedule.

Bayfield, Canada
The small fishing village of Bayfield started as a port on Lake Huron, but since the introduction of the railway it became unneccessary as a port.

The village itself features many examples of fine 19th C homes. It is a popular tourist destination during the summer.
Bayfield - Folmar Windmill
The Folmar Windmill in Bayfield is North America's only wind powered sawmill. The full-sized windmill is styled after a mill in the Netherlands called "The Arend".

Grand Bend - Lambton Heritage Museum, Canada
The Lambton Heritage Museum in Grand Bend features the only horse-drawn ambulance in Ontario, the 1867 Cameron Presbyterian Church, an 1857 pioneer house, and a recreated blacksmith's shop.

The Stones 'N Bones Museum in Sarnia has a collection of some 6,000 objects including fluorescent minerals, fossils, minerals, gemstones, artifacts, shells, butterflies, insects, antlers, horns and huge shark jaws.

Strathroy - Strathroy Middlesex Museum, Canada
The Strathroy Middlesex Museum is housed on an historic site built in 1871 by William Hay Murray. Features of the building include colored transom glass, two-story bay windows and Doric capitals. Exhibits feature a medical collection, Sir Arthur Currie military gallery and a 1920s kitchen.

Tillsonburg - Annandale House National Historic Site, Canada
Annandale House National Historic Site was built by E.D. Tillson, first Mayor of Tillsonburg, in the 1880's. The house has been restored to its original glory and visitors can tour three floors featuring period rooms. Highlights include painted ceilings, inlaid floors, ornate mantels and stained glass.
