Rimouski Attractions

Rimouski (pop. 31,000) is the administrative, economic and cultural centre of the region along the lower reaches of the St Lawrence River. It has a high school and is an important port serving a wider area.

To the west of the town the waters of the Rivière Rimouski plunge through a wild gorge. Some 5 km (3 mi.) further west a pretty lake for bathing has been constructed.
Rimouski Marine Museum
The Musée de la Mer houses exhibitions on marine studies.
This museum in Rimouski offers information on the regional history and the wreck of the "Empress of Ireland" which sank in 1914. Guided tours all visitors to explore the 30m lighthouse.
