Temagami Lake is ideal for anyone who enjoys watery pursuits such as fishing and canoeing with its 500km shoreline, 1600 islands and ample stocks of fish. The town of Temagami Lake is on one of the long arms of the lake. A former trading post, it owed its subsequent wealth to timber and then mining. The largest mine in the district is the Sherman Mine, which offers a chance to see iron ore mining at first hand (sightseeing tours by arrangement).
