Description
The Mackenzie Mountains extend north-west into the Canadian Arctic as a spur of the North American Cordilleras, forming the frontier between Yukon Territory and the Mackenzie lowlands. Largely unexplored and relatively dry, with only sparse vegetation, the Mackenzies consist of two mountain chains, with the eastern one also known as Canyon Range. They cover about 800 km (497 mi.) and have peaks as high as 2900 m (9518 ft) in the west.
