Top Tourist Attractions in Lakelands
The Lakelands area of Ontario borders along Lake Huron and Georgian Bay and includes the Muskoka Lakes, Barrie and Orillia.

Barrie, Canada

Barrie, a city located approximately one hour north of Toronto, was originally a landing place for aboriginal inhabitants and fur traders. The city is a good place for recreational activities all year round including swimming, boating, golfing and water-skiing.

Park Place (formerly Molson Park)

Park Place in Barrie, which many locals still refer to as Molson Park, has over 180 acres of grounds that include four Beach Volleyball Courts, three Baseball Diamonds and two Sports and Special Events Fields. A variety of concerts and festivals are held throughout the year.

Gryphon Theatre

Barrie's Gryphon Theatre operates year round and offers a variety of theatrical, musical, and comical performances as well as concerts.

Simcoe County Museum

The Simcoe County Museum exhibits items from the area's human history including pioneer and native relics as well as farm machinery.

Bobcaygeon, Canada

Bobcaygeon, was named for a Mississauga Indian word meaning "shallow rapids" - it is built on three islands surrounded by rapids. The town is known for recreational activities such as boating, fishing, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. During the summer months the town is a popular tourist spot and day trip destination from Toronto.

Boyd Heritage Museum

The Boyd Heritage Museum focuses on the Boyd family prior to 1920, especially on its influence with its lumbering and agricultural interests. The site includes artifacts and photogrpahs as well as the Boyd Lumber Office which was built in 1889.

Kawartha Settlers' Village

Kawartha Settlers' Village in Bobcaygeon is the site of restored homes and buildings that date back to the 1800s. This former farm also has displays of agricultural equipment in the barn.

Canadian Forces Base Borden Military Museum, Borden, Canada

The Canadian Forces Base Borden Military Museum exhibits Canada's military hardware both indoors and outdoors. On display are heavy equipment from WWI and WWII including armored vehicles and aircraft, as well as uniforms and other items. Due to the size of the collection the museum is spread over several buildings.

Grey Highlands South Grey Museum, Flesherton, Canada

Flesherton is a small town located approximately two hours north-west of Toronto. The Grey Highlands South Grey Museum exhibits items of historical significance to the area including farm equipment, wartime clothes and uniforms, spinning wheels and photographs.

Parry Sound, Canada

Parry Sound is a town about a three hours drive north of Toronto. It sits on the shores of Georgian Bay and is a full service community with all the regular tourist amenities. This can be a good base from which to explore some of the surrounding parks and natural areas.

Killbear Provincial Park

Killbear Provincial Park near Parry Sound is a family oriented park with a nice stretch of beach and some beautiful Georgian Bay shoreline. Killbear offers several campgrounds for tents and RVs, as well as day use areas.
There are several walking trails through the park and a lighthouse.

Museum on the Boyne (formerly South Simcoe Pioneer Museum), Alliston, Canada

The main buildings of Museum on the Boyne features exhibits and artifacts from local history. There is a log cabin from the 1850s and an English barn from the 1860s.

Elmvale - Elmvale Jungle Zoo

Elmvale Jungle Zoo features 300 animals from around the world, such as Australia, South America, Africa and Asia. Children can feed animals in the petting area and interactive demonstrations take place from Victoria Day to Labour Day.
