Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park
|
|
A gravel road some 16 km / 10 mi long winds alongside the deeply slashed Kokanee Creek to Gibson Lake and provides access to a magnificent area of wild country in the Slocan Range of the Selkirk Mountains. Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park, covering almost 260 sq km / 100 sq mi, contains numerous picturesque mountain lakes as well as snow and ice-capped peaks. Most of this unspoilt mountain region lies at a height of more than 2100 m / 6900 ft above sea-level. Kokanee Peak, 2774 m / 9100 ft high, towers majestically above the rest of Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park. This is a splendid spot for mountain walks and climbs.
