Invermere Attractions

The town of Invermere (859 m / 2820 ft) lies by Lake Windermere which is drained by the Columbia River; here windsurfing, trail riding and hang-gliding can be enjoyed.
Set between the Rocky Mountains and the Purcell Mountains, Invermere is very scenic. Its proximity to Kootenay National Park makes it a great base for exploring the park and other areas. The Pynelogs Cultural Centre features art work and other cultural experiences. Golfing is also popular in the Invermere area.
Windermere Valley Pioneer Museum
Windermere Valley Pioneer Museum is an historical museum built round the old Canadian Pacific Railway station.
Seven historical buildings are used to describe the history of the Windermere area. On display are items from pioneer days, including archives, historical photos, and information on the early Shuswap Indians. The Windermere Valley Pioneer Museum is very comprehensive with a considerably large collection.
