Cobalt, Canada Tourism

Cobalt just off the highway, came into being in 1903 when a blacksmith, Fred LaRose, stumbled here on what turned out to be the richest silver vein in the world. Cobalt was found somewhat later, leading to a mining boom that lasted until the 1930s. The story of the town's rise to fame and its mining history are recounted in the Mining Museum.
