Burlington a few miles north of Hamilton is in a delightful setting on the western shore of Lake Ontario. Places worth seeing include the Cultural Center, the Joseph Brant Museum with mementos of the Mohawk leaders and other Indian artifacts, and the Village Square with its attractively restored old houses.
Exhibits at the Burlington Art Centre include paintings, photography, sculpture, pottery and textile art. It is also home to seven art and craft guilds whose members work on site.
Ireland House, built between 1835-1837, was the home of Joseph Ireland. As one of Burlington's earliest settlers, his descendants lived in the home until 1985. The homestead highlights three periods - 1850s, 1890s and 1920s; and the many generations of the family.
