The "wheat town" of Brandon, with the Assiniboine River flowing through it, lies in the Pembina Valley, surrounded by blue hills. Brandon, the central terminal for the shipping of corn, is Manitoba's second largest town.
Brandon is pleasant place to visit, particularly in the summer, having won numerous awards in the Communities in Bloom
competition. Brand is also home to the Art Gallery of South-western Manitoba and the Shilo military base is a short drive away. The city hosts several festivals throughout the year including Ag Days, the Brandon Jazz Festival, and the Manitoba Summer Fair.
