Ashcroft Attractions
The small town of Ashcroft lies almost 470 km (292 mi.) northeast of Vancouver, on the far side of the TransCanada Highway on the eastern bank of the Thompson River where the Cascade Mountains fall away to the east. When the railroad link was completed in 1856 Ashcroft replaced Yale as the main trade center for the Caribou Road. Rainfall here is a mere 180 mm (7 in.) per annum, making Ashcroft one of the driest regions in British Columbia.
Some of the highlights in Ashcroft include Ashcroft Manor and the Ashcroft Museum.
