Susanville Attractions
Susanville (pop. 7,279) is in the Honey Lake Valley 40mi/64km east of Lassen Peak. There are walking tours in the downtown historic district.
In the 19th century, Susanville served as a stopping point on the Nobles Emigrant Trail, a popular alternate route to the Donner Pass Overland Trail.
The Bizz Johnson Trail follows an old branch of the Southern Pacific for 26 miles from Susanville to Westwood. Today, it's used by hikers, railroad history buffs and cross-country skiers.
Of note in the downtown area are eight outdoor murals and one indoor.

Eagle Lake Recreation Area
Eagle Lake is the second largest lake in the state of California. It is an ideal location for viewing golden & bald eagles nesting.
Lassen Historical Museum
Artifacts native to Lassen County and old time lumbering equipment and tools are on display at the museum. Adjacent to the museum is Roop's Fort, built in 1854. Pictures of Susanville dating back to the mid 1850's and Native American artifacts are displayed.
Lassen National Forest
The Lassen National Forest is located at the juncture of the Sierra Nevada, the Cascades, the Modoc Plateau and the Great Basin. There are over a million acres of wilderness that allow backpacking, hiking, fishing and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
