Pacific Grove near Monterey is a town with almost 15,000 inhabitants and boasts numerous Victorian houses, a natural history museum and the Asilomar Conference Center.
The Historic Walk of Pacific Grove takes visitors through the history of the town and its famous writer John Steinbeck. Visitors can see his family cottages at 147 11th Street and 425 Eardley Avenue and many other local sites of interest.

The Monarch Grove Sanctuary in Pacific Grove is a must see stop in October when the migrating butterflies arrive on their flight from the Canadian Rockies and Alaska.

The Museum of Natural History in Pacific Grove has permanent displays of native plants, geology, and aboriginal peoples. Over 400 birds, plus a monarch butterfly display, are featured. Temporary exhibits occur several times throughout the year as well as the annual Wildflower show.
