The La Quinta Resort is a Spanish Mission-style hotel built in 1926. The La Quinta was a famous retreat for Hollywood stars and was the inspiration for the Frank Capra film "It Happened One Night".

The Lake Cahuilla Recreation Area has a number of recreational pursuits for the visitor. The centerpiece of this park is Lake Cahuilla, constructed in the 1960s and filled by aqueduct from the Colorado River.
