Escondido (pop. 108,635) is located 28mi/45km north of San Diego. About 18 miles from the coast the city is to be found in the valley of the coastal mountains amid avocado and citrus groves.
The California Center for the Arts in Escondido is located on a 12 acre campus and features 9,000 square feet of galleries with exhibits of 20th C visual arts. There is an outdoor sculpture court.

Deer Park Vintage Cars includes more than 112 vintage cars in three buildings. Visitors will see a Model A Ford and a 1957 Chevy Bel Air as well as many more classic automobiles in impeccable condition.

The Escondido History Center displays buildings preserved from Escondido's early days. The structures were rescued from demolition and relocated to the park, where they serve as Escondido's historical museum complex. The buildings include a windmill, farm sculpture, tank house and herb garden.

San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park, preserves the memory of the soldiers who fought in the battle between the U.S. and California on December 6, 1846 during the Mexican-American War.
