Cambria Attractions

San Luis Obispo County

Location and general comments

Only 6mi/10km south of San Simeon, the site of the castle built by William Randolph Hearst, and not far from Highway U.S. 1, lies the little town of Cambria, which offers a welcome change. It is built almost entirely in the English style, and because of its quiet atmosphere and its beautiful beach, numerous artists have chosen to live there. The short detour before going on to Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo is worthwhile, not least because of the many interesting shops. In an historical schoolhouse dating from 1881 the Cambria Allied Arts Association offers an insight into the work of native artists.
Old Santa Rosa Chapel
The Old Santa Rosa Chapel was built in 1870, it was Cambria's first Catholic Church. It is a white, wood-sided church.
