Atascadero Attractions

Atascadero (pop. 23,138) is a vibrant community whose name in Spanish means Place of Much Water.

Atascadero Lake is in the center of town and is the place for numerous festivals and community events.
Atascadero Historical Society Museum (closed)
Closed while a new site is determined.

The Atascadero Historical Society Museum is now located in the "Colony House". It chronicles the city's development, from its birth in 1913 to the present, through documents, photographs, and artifacts.
Charles Paddock Zoo
The Charles Paddock Zoo is located 1.5 miles west of Atascadero. This five acre zoo has a diverse mix of over 100 animals, including tigers, jaguars, alligators, wallabies, meerkat, spider monkeys, bears, and servals.
