Arcata Attractions
Arcata (pop. 15,197) is located 8mi/13km northeast of Eureka. The town is the site of Humboldt State University which was established in 1913.
The Azalea State Reserve is located north of Arcata and is noted for its flowers when they bloom in Spring.
Tips: Limited parking. Plan to visit in April and May when azaleas are in bloom.

The Humboldt State University Natural History Museum features 2,000 plants and animals from around the world with emphasis on local Northern California natural history. Of special note is the skeleton of a 500 million year old fish and a 60-gallon tide pool tank.
