Antioch - Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve Attractions

Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve is the perfect location for hiking, nature study, wildlife viewing and picnicking. Within the Black Diamond area were five coal mining towns from the 1860s until the 1900s. Little remains of the Nortonville, Somersville, Stewartville, West Hartley and Judsonville communities.

The Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve features Rose Hill Cemetery, the Greathouse Visitor Center - located in an underground chamber excavated in the mid-1920s, and the mine tour. The Hazel-Atlas Mine Tour takes visitors back 400 feet to see mine workings, ore chutes, and ancient geological features.
